It's not going to jury trial and if it does he'll do just fine: "Modafferi came to Hawaii in 1983 after being recruited by Honolulu Prosecutor Charles Marsland right out of Boston’s Suffolk University Law School. He spent 11 years as a deputy prosecuting attorney, becoming branch chief of a newly created narcotics division. In 1994, he went into private practice focusing on criminal defense." When it is released back into the inventory — often at the very last minute — we have lost our ability to sell it, and our fees offset some of the lost revenue.” What about trying to get on an earlier flight from one neighbor island to another? If there was space available on the earlier flight the inventory would not be lost. Yet, they still charge us for the change on the earlier flight. She is completely lost and out of touch with the locals. The customer service staff were completely content in saying that they cannot change flights because it throws off the audits done by the mainland. Such a lack of care and concern for the locals. IOW, they "played down," always a dangerous attitude going into any game. But, altho pros, these are young guys; so were the Giants. The Giants decided to make a statement; the Broncos didn't. Most noteworthy is that the Giants' D outplayed the Denver D. They completely shut down the Denver running game, a staple of the Denver O. Denver's QBs shine only when the running game is working. Who's to blame? The entire team! Christ, McManus missed 2 easy field goals for god's sake. I hope this loss was good for the Broncos. Maybe now they've got it out of their system. I hope!! I was just on Maui last weekend and noticed how beautiful and clean the beach was along the highway going up to Kaanapali. We once had that on Oahu. Kakaako for instance was a place I hung out and surfed while growing up. I wouldn't take my kids there today due to unsafe situations. There's sympathy but there's also reality. Don't ruin the aina or be pilau and break up the elec lights or plumbing for personal use. Take a drive past the airport under Nimitz. Would you feel safe walking around these areas?! No...neither do tourist and that's what feeds our economy. Each one of these individuals became homeless due to different situations but the common problem is entitlement. They feel that they are entitled to whereever they plant their tent. There's tons of jobs, the economy is growing significantly...and they can move to where those jobs are. You can move me into that group that pays 85% of the Fed. taxes any day as long as I get the wages that go with it. More soberly, though, the people at the lower half of the income scale are not much better off than slaves. Of course they are free to pick up and go any time they like, but they'll still need to take another job, to afford another home, the car, the bills, and pay for their non-school age children to be watched by someone earning even less than they earn. It's the new form of slavery, and why should slaves have to pay taxes -- they're already paying with their lives. Let those who profit from their toil pay for the wars -- that's where 50% of the federal taxes go. No flag No flag Allow No action Checked

It might have helped to interrupt/shorten the shooting spree IF police were able to get up the and IF the police were intent on stopping the shooting. Remember, the first on the scene would have been beat/patrol officers and NOT the SWAT team or equipped/trained to storm a barricaded room. "God-given," …(1st part) I see your point, HC, but I think most would say that right inheres in the person, rather than being bestowed by the state. "God-given," and 'inalienable' get at that. On that understanding, the Japanese had rights, but those rights were violated by the state. One of the difficulties, with respect to a right to life, is that it's not clear at what point there is someone there to hold that right. I suspect a reason people choose words like "baby" and "child" when referring to the smallest of embryos is to stack the emotional deck in favor of the belief that a blastocyst is a person. And that is, as we all should know, a point on which the Church herself remains officially agnostic. The other thing in play here is the question of women's rights, with respect to making their own decisions about their reproductive lives. Like so many civil women's rights of self-determination, that one is of recent vintage. No flag No flag Allow No action Checked

The death of music venues is a very familiar circumstance for those of us in Toronto. Scenes arise and change. The Argyle scene was a very nice center for people who enjoyed live music. There is no guarantee, as Mike notes, that those who have gravitated to other sections of the city will return. I can name other blocks in Halifax that were in times gone by hubs of music activity and which are now bereft of performance venues and, for the most part, human traffic. Every one everywhere likes to complain about government. Nova Scotians bring extra credibility having lived under a series of incompetent and borderline corrupt provincial governments from each of the three parties- leaving them no where to turn - and local city governance who seem to be in the pockets of developers with big dreams and bigger pockets. Most people don't earn minimum wage, and certainly not people who are supporting families. Minimum wage is a transient position in life. Students, younger people, and those with low education and job skills. You're not meant to be on minimum wage for your entire life. Plus it unfairly discriminates against those with the least skills because they become essentially unemployable. But you didn't answer my question. If minimum wage does not lead to unemployment, and government actually has the power to increase wages, why not set it at $200/hr? Surely we can eliminate poverty like this, right? The Broncos got fined last week for a hit, I believe the unit is being singled out by the NFL officials. Several passes up the sidelines were floating where a safety could come over and take the player out, but they just don't want to draw a fine. I saw an eagle receiver turn around and jaw at a bronco defender. It was taunting outright, don't know what he was saying but he should have said thanks for letting me catch that without sending me to the hospital. The blatant holds by recievers downfield go unpunished by the NFL. Don't you dare touch one of them though. The rules just stink, it's not football anymore. Sanders caught that ball, the eagle guy was dropping his and landed out of bounds. The long TD run was freed up by a huge hold and whip down on the safety. the walk in TD pass came off a screen and a hold on the defensive back in the endzone, where was the penalty on that? I don't blame the d. No flag No flag Allow No action Checked

So all who work here should contribute for those services. 2% income tax, everyone pays regardless of income. Everyone who shops here is enabled to do so because of State services (courts, police, commerce beauracracy), so everyone who shops, including visitors, should contribute throub a 2% sales tax. It's a false choice to say it's either/or, the most equitable and effective solution is both. Low taxes, not no taxes, coupled with utilization of the earnings from the PF (as was originally intended) will provide a stable revenue base independent of oil. Yes, oil taxes should be revised. Yes, the budget should continue to be refined. But we must have an economic plan that ties revenue to population, not oil production and pricing. No flag No flag Allow No action Checked
