That entity can include or consist of smaller political subdivisions - the most obvious being by island, but the rule specifically mentions "on island or other geographic, historical, or cultural ties." Hope that answers the question. No flagNo flagAllowNo actionChecked

Students of history and political science will know this. Preston knows, but he is keeping it quiet. Just like he keeps quiet about how he, the son of a bible-thumping premier and a mover-and-shaker in Alberta business and political circles long before he gathered like-minded cranks together to create the Reform Party can point at some other pol and refer to him or her as having membership in the "elite". The only "elite" that counts is the economic elite. The decision makers. The people that sponsor the political elites, including the Reform/Conservatives and the Liberals. The agrarian reform movements were not populist and those same students of political science and history do not refer to them as such. They were true "bottom up" movements that spawned leadership, theory and political parties - both the Progressives and the Cooperative Commonwealth Federation sprang from agrarian reform in Canada. It was the early faith community that consciously selected the books and letters that we now call the NT. The community and its faith came first, and the primary criteria adopted in selecting this set of books and letters over other gospels and epistles is that they (the chosen books) conform to the community's faith. How very strange that I am tossing this observation up at you (a traditionalist Catholic) when this argument is historically used by Catholics against "sola scriptura" Protestantism. The essence the traditionalist Catholic insistence on Scripture + Tradition is precisely that scripture all by itself is not enough!!! No flagNo flagAllowNo actionChecked

These aren't people living on their own, and if they even pay rent, they probably aren't listed on the lease. They're freeloading off of family and friends who wouldn't be living here at all if not for government assistance. This is the new norm. It will keep getting worse. You can cheer this as a win for the Republicans only if you lack the imagination to see how this could blow up in their face. When Obama was president and he was faced with unprecedented obstruction from the GOP, he employed executive workarounds to get things done. It was a sensible option at the time, and strategically savvy enough. But what did it do? It greased the slippery slope. It only takes one loose-cannon petulant POTUS to show how dangerous it was for Obama to employ these tactics. Turn now to the GOP, so desperately eager for a party win, that they are willing to trash the entire procedure that brings stability and balance to the Senate. They will have their win, but to what end? Do we not see how this has nudged us closer to tyranny? That it would take a single strongman with a simple majority in the legislature to summarily wipe out the SC and install whomever they want at will? No flagNo flagAllowNo actionChecked

I hope that people looking at Ryan's bid remember that he's one of the union leaders who was so enraged by Bob Rae's establishment of "Rae Days" that he lobbied against the NDP in the next election. That got us years of the Harris-Eves pre-Harper, pre-Trump, government--how'd that work for us, Siddy? Oh, and "Rae Days"? Well, we got days off along with our reduced pay. Any other province I'm aware of that took a wage roll-back action just took the money, no time off to compensate. No flagNo flagAllowNo actionChecked

I also don't quite understand why you would suggest that I thought "racism started with him." I never said anything remotely suggesting such a thing. I don't know what "bias" of the IRS or Justice Department you could be talking about, but it seems like utter nonsense or it would have been apparent. Also, no Black Panthers threatened people at voting booths. Obama was a far far better president than Bush and, obviously, Trump since Trump already has the title of Worst President Ever. It's a pity nobody in Congress is going to read it. Bishops, here's the reality. The Republicans pay no attention to you because they know that no matter how egregiously they screw the poor, as long as they spout the proper "pro-life" claptrap during election years, you'll stick with them. And the Democrats pay no attention to you because they know that, no matter what, you'll remain snugly in those GOP pockets. See, guys, you've forgotten that the lifeblood of politics is the quid pro quo. If you want to be taken seriously by Congress, you've got to have something they need. You don't. The Dems have figured out how to win without you and the GOP knows that you're the cow that gives the milk for free. Face it. You're politically irrelevant. No flagNo flagAllowNo actionChecked

However, they likely already lost it following their cash-for-access fundraising tactics, draconian reductions to health care transfers, foolhardy Carbon Tax policy, heading to a $30 billion deficit, champagne-style spending by cabinet, Gerald butts and Katie telford vacuuming cash out of the taxpayer for moving expenses .... and now no urgency for electoral reform because the Liberals are in power. This, my friends, is why you must never, ever vote Liberal. Even the NDP would have been a better choice than this lot No flagNo flagAllowNo actionChecked

Without regard for what occupation I have worked in, I have never lied to protect someone who did wrong. Just as I was and am fully prepared to accept responsibility for anything I have done wrong, I expect anyone else to do the same. While I have not witnessed anything like what you describe or been in a situation that was not completely transparent as to what was happening, I do know that there are dirty officers out there. Working the Santa Clara County Jail one evening, officers brought a man into the jail with an injured arm. I was ordered to fingerprint him and I refused until he had received some medical attention. I won that little argument. Most of the men I have worked with are honorable and in many ways, like me in that regard. Much of the bad ones are a reflection of their superiors, in both Corrections and Police Departments or any other endeavor. I have been lucky over the years. No flagNo flagAllowNo actionChecked
